[fr] Europe et mondialisation : commentaires
As expected, the outcome of the vote on the resolution was terrible. It was adopted by 435 + (PSE, ALDE, EPP, UEN) and 86 - (Greens/GUE).
All in all, the Greens lost most of their AM, aiming at mitigating the overall positive tune on globalisation, by underlining as well its negative external social and environmental impact.

[fr] Financial crisis : background note for the Roundtable on financial crisis
Preliminary remark :
As a general principle, the integration of the European financial markets can contribute to the achievement of the Lisbon-Göteborg Strategy, provided the respect of three major conditions :
a) need to ensuring effective financing of long-term investments, which are crucial to attaining the Lisbon-Göteborg objectives (for example : to tackle climate change and energy policies) ;
b) need to addressing market imperfections (due to non-transparency, asymmetric (…)

Analysis of the main outcomes of the ECOFIN Council’s report (as adopted at the extraordinary ECOFIN meeting on 20 March 2005)
Preliminary remark: how Ministers overcame the last difficulties to reach to an agreement
One of the key issue for the Eurogroup and the Ecofin to resolve on Sunday was certainly whether or not "a list of relevant factors" should be included in the assessment of a deficit that is slightly above the 3% reference value and, if there was a list, which factors should be on it.

[fr] Short evaluation of the Green/EFA group’s input in EMAC
Preliminary remark
Although the Greens/EFA group continues to encounter significant difficulties to defend our position in EMAC on controversial issues (such as Stability and Growth Pact, taxation, liberalisation of services,...), the trend is however quite positive, in comparison with last year. All in all, this year has witnessed a better spirit of cooperation between all political groups, in spite of the fact that the Greens lost one seat, at the advantage of the UEN.

[en] Background note on "Measurement beyond GDP"
Preliminary remark:
On a regular basis, if there were to be political will in the EP, the question of "going beyond GDP" could stand high on the political agenda of the EP, through the adoption of various reports: adoption of the Sustainable Development Strategy or the renewal of the Lisbon Strategy.
The fact that the renewed European Sustainable Development Strategy (EU SDS) identifies Sustainable Consumption and Production [2] (SCP) as one of the key challenges to be addressed to meet the challenges of sustainable development presents another occasion to address, through the coming European action plan on SCP, this key issue for the Greens.
To feed our reflections within the Green group on this issue, and in view of the context of the European electoral campaign of next year, here is a summary of the conference "Beyond GDP" which was organised in Brussels in November 2007, with the following objective: to analyse the shortcomings of GDP and to see which indicators could serve as a new base for measuring progress and the well-being of nations.
This background note aims to give an overview of the key issues debated, and on the opportunities/shortcomings of other indicators which go beyond growth.
